About Lou and the F2TF Campaign

Lou Nicholson.

Lou lives in Goolwa with her husband, Sam and three small girls. They moved to the coast nearly 5 years ago to enjoy the Fleurieu quality of life, run their small business and get involved in the community.

Lou, an allied health professional, grew up in Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and the Adelaide foothills. She was public school educated before completing a Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy at Flinders University. She has worked to support herself from a young age, and has gained significant skills and experience in communication, advocacy and working with people from all walks of life.

Developing a strong interest in State Parliament over recent years Lou has come to recognise the benefits of Independent representation for both communities and Parliament. Inspired by the likes of Rebekha Sharkie, Cathy McGowan, Helen Haines and Zali Steggal, Lou will use her background in health and science to contribute to evidence-based policy that keeps the needs of Finniss front and centre.

As an historically safe Liberal seat, Finniss has fallen behind party obligations and priorities. Lou Nicholson will put Finniss to the front. Using her strong communication skills and joy of engaging with people, Lou will identify our needs and priorities in consultation with the community. She will advocate for Finniss through development of a strong working relationship with State Government and ensure your voice is represented in State Parliament.

"I am passionate about our beautiful part of the world and the electorate of Finniss. We are a culturally and environmentally significant region and our communities have wonderful values, skills and perspectives. We deserve a State MP who is engaged, passionate and able to reflect our views and speak up for our needs." - Lou Nicholson

Together with you, Lou Nicholson is here to put Finniss to the front. Lou is running as an Independent candidate for the seat of Finniss in the 2022 South Australian State election.

Finniss to the Front (F2TF)

'Finniss to the front' is not only the campaign slogan for Lou Nicholson but a grass-roots movement for the state electorate of Finniss. As Australia experiences "the rise of Independents", there has never been a more appropriate time to consider our representation.

The state electorate of Finniss was created following a 1991 electoral redistribution. It was contested for the first time as 'Finniss' in 1993 and won by Liberal Leader at the time, Dean Brown. It has been represented by the Liberal party since then and was represented by the Liberal Party or their predecessor, the Liberal and Country League for 50 years prior. That is 80 years of uninterrupted Liberal representation. We are called a "safe Liberal seat".

Within politics it is well known that Governments direct more funding and resources to marginal seats. Marginal seats are those won by a margin of less than 6% (i.e. under 56% of the final votes). Marginal seats have candidates who have to work harder for their votes, who have to work harder for their electorates. Finniss was made a marginal seat for the first time in 2018! The runner up was an Independent.

Finniss is looking for a change. We are looking for stronger representation. We are ready for an Independent. You can make a difference with your vote.

Please make sure you follow along with Lou Nicholson through the 2022 election and beyond. We all care about the place we live in. Let's put Finniss to the front, it's for all of us.
